Attractions and Recommend Spot around the apartment!!

YANAKA, SENDAGI, NEZU = YANESEN / 5 mins on foot

Collectively known as Yanesen, taking the first syllable of each of Yanaka, Nezu and Sendagi, these locations are filled with the atmosphere of the traditional shitamachi neighborhoods in Tokyo. Yanakaginza Shopping Street allows visitors to catch a glimpse of old Japan. Popular for its cherry blossoms, Yanaka-reien cemetery is one of the many perfect places for a stroll in any season. It was also a place well-loved by many literary masters. If you decide to cross the hill road and go through the mazelike alleyways, you will definitely encounter retro scenes of Tokyo as if you’ve gone on a time trip to the “good old days”. Why not escape the hustle and bustle of the metropolis and have a traditional Tokyo experience in Yanesen?

Yanaka Ginza Shopping District / 5 mins on foot

Yanaka Ginza is the center of commerce of Yanaka City and is prized for its atmosphere which brings you back to the Edo Period. At 175 meters long and 5-6 meters wide, the street is packed with 70 shops. It is not a big shopping street. While there are many shopping streets throughout Japan, the atmosphere of this one is what garners attention from the media. It has always been visited by people from all over Japan, but it is now drawing visitors from all over the world.

Nezu Shrine / 5 mins on foot

It is said that Yamatotekerunomikoto held his first service at Sendagi about 1900 years ago. Year 2 of the Houei era of the Edo period, 5th shogun Tsunayoshi established Tsunatoyo, the son of his older brother Tsunashiga, as his adoptive heir. He offered his compound to the building of the Nezu Shrine. The following year (1706), the main building and 7 sections were completed. In the 6th year of the Showa era (1931) it was designated a national treasure (currently called an important cultural property).

Ueno Park / 10 mins on foot

Ueno Park is one of Japan’s first designated parks. It was established by Cabinet decree in 1873 along with Shiba, Asakusa, Fukagawa, and Asukayama Parks.

This area was once the grounds of Toeizan Kaneiji Temple during the Edo period. After the Meiji Restoration, the land became government property. It was eventually given to Tokyo City in 1924 by the Imperial Household Ministry.

At first the park consisted of the Kaneiji Temple main building and mausoleum, Toshogu Shrine, and the cherry trees within the temple ground. The museums, zoo, and art galleries built later transformed it into a park with a more cultural feel.
